Nomination "Responsible for those": an internet marketer has launched a social online project using his own funds, featuring useful pet services, including a search tool for lost pets.
Yury Simakov, a Siberian native, came up with the idea of creating an extensive pet service when he got his second pet — a charismatic husky named Frost, who joined his friendly cat named Lysya. As a conscientious and caring owner, he felt responsible for his four-legged friends. Although Lysya walks by herself, she only does so at home, whereas a dog needs outdoor walks several times a day.
“The idea of creating a pet map was born out of a real problem. When I got a dog, I didn’t know where I could safely walk him, where the city's dog parks were, where I could let him off the leash, and so on. The relevant information was scattered across various sources, outdated, or just no longer accurate,” the Krasnoyarsk resident noted.
What was needed was a service where all the relevant information for pet owners would be in one place. “I’ve been a dog owner for a long time myself. I know the pain points of dog lovers, what they lack, and what worries them. I also worked in the pet industry for a long time. As an internet marketer, I understand how to digitize it all,” the Siberian shared.
A huge love for animals, a high sense of responsibility for our furry friends, enthusiasm, and accumulated knowledge helped Yury develop and launch the online project map2pet.ru. From each paycheck, he spent a certain amount on the website's development, outsourcing the technical tasks for its creation, as reported by NGS24.RU. A similar mobile application was also created and can be downloaded from the website. According to the founder, his significant other is also actively involved in developing the project. “My wife helps me a lot. Without her support, none of this would have happened, probably,” the Krasnoyarsk resident emphasized.
In essence, the interactive online map is a detailed, user-friendly navigator for owners of any pets, guiding them through a safe and comfortable life with their animals. The project already covers seven Siberian cities: Krasnoyarsk, Divnogorsk, Sosnovoborsk, Zheleznogorsk, Abakan, Chernogorsk, and Novosibirsk. Other Siberian towns and cities will soon be added. Gradually, its geography will expand across the entirety of Russia.
In addition to searching for lost pets, the map offers other services: safe walking areas, pet shops, veterinary clinics, animal shelters, grooming salons, pet hotels, dog-friendly cafes, and dangerous spots, including areas where dog hunters scatter poisoned meat. Furthermore, in the "Useful Articles" section, you can expand your knowledge about animals.
Thousands of people are already using the new service monthly, allowing every owner and their pet to feel safe. Notably, the project is completely free for users. They can independently mark locations where they lost their pet or found someone else's missing furry friend, as well as attach photos of the animals. Over time, the missing pet announcements are automatically removed. The project's creator adds other useful services for pet owners himself, utilizing information received from residents of Krasnoyarsk and other cities. According to Yury, this feedback motivates him to keep working on his passion project.
Future plans include a personal user account. “It will be an interactive account styled as an electronic passport for the pet, where users can make notes with reminders about vaccinations or other tasks ahead. The service will notify the pet owner so they won't forget anything. After all, the mission of the project is to make pet care simple and comfortable,” Yury Simakov emphasized.
