The nomination "Responsible for those...": Abandoned elderly dogs are taken care of at the Borovichi Foundation for the protection of homeless animals "Naida".

The small town of Borovichi is located 185 kilometers from Veliky Novgorod.  The population here is not large, only 46 thousand people. But the hearts of many locals are huge, and their love and kindness are enough for those who are homeless. First of all, we are talking about abandoned animals. They live in the Borovichi foundation for the protection of homeless animals "Nayda", - the journalists of "Novgorod. TV" tell.

80% of today's inhabitants of Nayda are dogs with special needs or pensioners. There is a special attitude towards canine old age here, they try to give such pets a sweeter bone, and pay a little more attention.

"If a dog lives, sleeps well, walks well, communicates, nothing hurts, there are no injuries or pathologies. Then, of course, we spend our animals until the very end," says Tamara Uverskaya, head of the Borovichi Foundation for the Protection and Rehabilitation of homeless animals "Nayda".

But dogs pay many times more for their love and care. They help volunteers to introduce children and adults to the life of the younger brothers. They willingly communicate, allow themselves to be stroked. And what's more, they are happy to go for a walk with a person, distracting him from everyday worries and, as they say now, information noise. There are a lot of volunteers at the shelter today who can't get a dog at home, but they take care of the animals at the shelter. They come and walk with their four-legged friends here.

The Nayda Charitable Foundation for the Assistance and Rehabilitation of Homeless Animals in Borovichi has united caring people around them who are ready to solve the problems of homeless animals. The Foundation's volunteers include not only adults, but also children. According to the organizers, all these people were united by one idea – every living being has the right to life.

"It's a very common practice among the population that an old animal is not needed. It happened that they took us to the forest - we brought them from the forest. Sometimes, lost old dogs were picked up in the city, although it is clear that they were domestic," Tamara Uverskaya continues.

And although the probability of an elderly dog joining a family decrease in direct proportion to its age, the shelter notes that there are still people who are ready to take on such responsibility. It is not uncommon for old people in the Nayda shelter to move to a new home.
