The nomination "Our Brothers": The cat Musya from the Yalta "Swallow's Nest" is an animal with a tragic story and an amazing will to live.
The news about Musya has spread all over the Russian media, and the stray ordinary cat, who has lived "at the museum" for many years, has become a symbol of unity for many people around the world.
The Crimean street cat became famous when it got into a tough scrape: it was thrown from the observation deck of the Swallow's Nest castle palace, from a height of 40 meters, KP-Crimea recalls. The attempt on the animal became known in February, when eyewitnesses shared footage of the crime. In the video, a man throws a cat off a cliff without regret. Later, the video fell into the hands of the police, and a young resident of St. Petersburg was arrested for the crime. He was detained and hospitalized for 10 days. The police have opened a criminal case under the article "Cruelty to an animal in order to inflict pain on it, resulting in its death.”

However, three days later, incredible news spread around the country: Musya is alive!
Yalta volunteers organized a boat search for the cat from the sea and found it on a rock. It turned out that Musya had fallen into the water, but miraculously survived, swam out and climbed onto the rock, where she spent three days.
"With volunteer Ekaterina, who leads the group "Help for animals. Yalta“, the night before I talked on the phone, I said that we need to look from the sea, on the rocks. And in the morning, a rescue operation was already organized, I was waiting for them on land to inspect Musenka," the new owner of the famous cat, veterinarian Svetlana Vlasenko, told us. The rescue operation was attended by the Republican rescue service "Krym — SPAS,“ who climbed the cliff with Musya using climbing equipment.

Pavel Berlyand, deputy director of the Swallow's Nest Museum, told KP-Crimea that Musya was thrown into the museum as a kitten ten years ago. But they didn't get rid of it. The cat turned out to be so kind that she even made friends with a local dog named Spartak. And museum visitors often brought different treats and food to the Yalta cat, so she always made contact.

Musya now lives with veterinarian Svetlana Vlasenko, who not only took her out after a serious accident, but also gave her a house. You can follow the home life of the famous Musya in the telegram channel of the veterinary service. Despite the horror she has experienced, the cat remains affectionate and trusting — she does not hold grudges against people and gratefully accepts care.
